2007 Important Parade Forms & Info - see below for all staging maps & line ups.

 

Dear Parade of Lights Participant:

The lineup for the 2007 Parade of Lights has been finalized. Please find attached the following two documents:

1. Parade of Lights 2007 Lineup; and
2. Parade of Lights 2007 Staging Map.

The Lineup shows the order of the parade and the number that has been assigned to your entry.

After you determine your entry number, please review the Staging Map to determine your staging area. For example, if you have been assigned entry number 29, you will be in staging area 4 (the blue area on the map on the east side of the Municipal Office Tower parking lot).

Regardless of your assigned staging area, you will enter through the Participant Check-in at the corner of Abram and Mesquite streets (indicated by a red star on the map). Please check in by 4:00 PM; this is very important, because the surrounding streets will be closed at 4:30 PM.

When you reach your specific staging area, you will find traffic cones holding large printed numbers. Please find the cone with your entry number, and then set up with your entry facing north or west (depending on where you are located) with the traffic cone immediately in front of your entry.

The Parade of Lights will start at 6:00 PM sharp from the corner of Main and Center streets, and the parade will follow the order set out on the Lineup.

During the parade, please try to maintain a distance of 3 to 4 car lengths between your entry and the entries before and behind you. Keep moving and do your best to keep the spacing fairly even.

Please don’t dawdle, but don’t rush so much that you run off from the entry behind you.

The parade ends at the corner of Abram and Mesquite, but DON’T STOP THERE. If your entry is near the beginning of the parade, please continue north on Mesquite and turn left into the parking lot of the Arlington Central Library, then move through the parking lot, turn left on Center Street, and go as far south as possible. After the open area of Center Street is full, the following entries should move to a far corner of the Library parking lot. The whole idea is to get out of the way as much as possible so that you won’t block others. If you in the middle of the parade and find the Library parking lot full, please turn right into the parking lot of the Municipal Office Tower, then move to a far corner of the lot so that you won’t block the entries behind you. Finally, if your entry started out on Center Street, please continue north on Mesquite, then turn left (west) on Main, then left again (south) on Center Street and move south toward Abram (again, leave plenty of room for those behind you).

As you know from prior years, there are only a few things that will result in disqualification of an entry. Although we don’t like to disqualify anyone, your entry WILL be disqualified if:

1. You are EVER more than six (6) car lengths ahead of the immediately following entry. Please don’t allow this to happen.
2. You stop in front of City Hall.
3. Your entry blocks others attempting to exit the parade.

Because of your hard work and participation, this parade has become a central part of Arlington’s holiday tradition. Thank you.
